He spent his days chasing dragonflies, skipping stones across the river, and laughing barefoot under the warm noon sun. One morning near the old barn, he heard a soft trembling chirp. Under broken baskets and dry reeds, he found a small Eurasian Tree Sparrow — brown feathers with pale wing markings, round black eyes full of fear, its tiny wing bent awkwardly.
